Women’s swimming and diving open the season with a victory at Conn. Middle School
Zoe Tray won two individual races and was part of a winning relay team.
The Middlebury Women’s Swimming and Diving Team opened their season with a 158-130 victory at Connecticut College on Saturday. With the triumph, the Panthers beat the Camels for the first time in 10 years. Middlebury is inactive until Saturday 4 December when it welcomes Amherst at 1:00 p.m.
The Panthers were propelled by seven first places. The 200-yard medley relay quartet Maddy Reid, Zoe tray, Audrey Hsi and Louise hay won the event with a time of 1: 50.82. Tray scored two individual victories, winning the 100 (1: 08.13) and the 200 breaststroke (2: 29.33).
Middlebury swept the diving competition with Olivia Laughing winning the 1-meter honors (206.02 points) and Kayla schwartz finishing second (170.48). Schwartz was the champion on the 3-meter board, totaling a score of 184.58, while Laughing was just behind at 183.53.
Mia Tarentole stopped the stopwatch at 200 butterfly with a winning time of 2: 14.95, while Courtney gantt was first in the 50 free, with a time of 25.26. Gantt was also second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.70.
Chloe katz and Isabelle Caddeau each achieved a pair of second place performances. Katz stopped the time in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5: 18.21 and hit the wall in 2: 17.13 in the 200 IM. Caddeau finished in 1: 00.37 on the 100 backstroke and stopped the clock at 1: 01.38 on the 100 butterfly.
