Women’s soccer draws even with Houston Victoria

VICTORIA, Texas – Concordia Texas Women’s Soccer (0-0-1) showed courage in a second-half comeback that ended in a tie against University Houston-Victoria (0-0-1). First-year student Alycia Buenaventura scored two goals on his debut. Junior goaltender Elizabeth Jones made six saves to put The Cage 2-2 on Thursday.

The action was intense from the start as the Jaguars scored in the eighth minute. As the action progressed, Buenaventura fired a shot that hit the crossbar before pressing it to level the score within 30e minute. Both defenses would stiffen for the remainder of the half as Kallie Krenz would be the only player to take a shot in the last 15 minutes of the first half.

The pace would pick up when Houston-Victoria scored in the 61st minute, but Buenaventura tied the game again at 2-2 two minutes later.
CTX often found themselves on the defensive as the Jaguars attempted all five shots in a row over the next 10 minutes.

The Tornados had the opportunity to take the first lead of the match following a corner kick from Falynn Pyterek in the 77th minute. Katie FierroThe first shot attempt from would be saved, and his second attempt would just miss the right. Pyterek would have two more shots in the final 10 minutes but both teams would hold steady for a 2-2 draw.
