Weather impacts | KCMO.gov

A severe snowstorm is expected at KCMO this week, so the city is making adjustments to remain virtually open for business. Check this page regularly for updates on how the storm may affect city operations.

Although city offices are closed for in-person meetings Wednesday and Thursday, staff will operate virtually and remotely. Most city business, including payments, can also be done here at KCMO.gov.

Be aware of snow. The Snow Update page shows how the City is preparing to deal with snow and ice, has a map so you can see the snow removal routes, outlines the snow removal operations plan, and offers other useful tips for you. help to stay safe. Impacts include:

  • No trash, recycling or bulky item pickup until Friday, February 4.
  • These affected residents will be allowed to drop off four bags of garbage on their normal garbage day next week. Selective collection is unlimited.
  • Solid Waste staff will contact residents with appointments for large items via the email address provided at the time the appointment was scheduled. Those who do not have an e-mail address will be contacted by telephone.

These impacts are necessary within the framework of the city’s snow plan, which prioritizes the improvement of snow removal services throughout the city.

Municipal court

All Municipal Court hearings, including domestic violence cases, will be virtual on Wednesday and Thursday. Go to KCMO.gov/court and click on Virtual Hearings for more information.

Town planning

Planning and Development staff will work remotely on Wednesday and Thursday and will be available via email. Many of the department’s business functions can be conducted online through CompassKC and KCMO.gov/planning.

We will not be conducting field inspections on Wednesday, February 2. Inspections scheduled for this date will be postponed to the first day of resumption of field inspections. (to be determined, subject to weather and road conditions)

municipal Council

City Council meetings will be held as scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday, with options to participate in person or virtually. Agendas and links for virtual meetings can be found on the City Clerk’s website. Those wishing to comment on the proposed orders can send a written testimonial to [email protected] To simply watch a meeting, tune into channel 2 of your cable company or the city’s YouTube channel. City Hall will remain open to the public to attend council meetings on 26and stage.

Transit

Please avoid parking on streets where there are streetcar lanes or along hallways with frequent transit service, if there are other parking options.

Free parking downtown

FREE parking is available at KCMO City Garages downtown during this snow storm to open the streets for more efficient snow clearing in downtown KCMO. Free parking is available at the following facilities:

  • Ed Wolf Garage 1100 Oak St.
  • JE Dunn Garage 1100 Cherry Street Auditorium
  • Garage Plaza 1220 Wyandotte Street
  • West Bottoms Garage 1601 State Line Rd.
  • 17th Wyandotte Arts District Garage (Kauffman Center)
  • KC live! Garage 151 E 13th St. (Under Power & Light)

Free parking will be available for 96 hours starting at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 1 QR code will be available from Tuesday 3 p.m. to Thursday 3 p.m. · QR code will not grant access to entry after Thursday 3rd February.

Scan the QR code below on the entry scanning device to receive a FREE pre-validated parking ticket. You will use this ticket to exit.

Special Instructions:

  • The QR code can be used anytime between 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1 and 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3. The QR code will not allow access to the entrance after Thursday.
  • 96 FREE hours begin upon entering the establishment.
  • 96 hours FREE will expire on Monday February 7 – daily rates will apply thereafter

The other six community centers will be CLOSED.

The KC Parks Administration offices will be closed to the public on Wednesday and Thursday. Staff will work remotely (or clear snow!)
