Jordan James ’22 Honored as NESCAC Co-Player of the Week
Hadley, Mass. – Senior Wesleyan men’s basketball forward Jordan James ’22 earned NESCAC Co-Player of the Week honors after playing for the Cardinals in a big road win at Middlebury on Saturday. The league office made the announcement in its weekly statement on Monday afternoon. He shared the Player of the Week honor with Amherst’s Garrett Day.
James was outstanding in a much-anticipated clash between the top two teams in the NESCAC rankings ahead of the showdown. The stalwart forward finished with a season-high 23 points on 11 shooting for 17 to go along with nine rebounds (five offensive), three blocks and four steals in 30 minutes. For James, it was his first 20+ point game of the season and fourth of his career. His comeback dunk with just over nine minutes of jumping started a 19-2 Cardinal run that won it for Wesleyan in a game that was tied 60-60 before his offensive rebound and score. James is tied for second in NESCAC in blocks per game (2.1) while his field goal percentage of 69.2 ranks first in the league by more than 10 percentage points.
Wesleyan (18-3, 6-1 NESCAC) and James are back in action tonight with another huge NESCAC road clash, this time against the nationally ranked No. 12 Williams (14-1, 4-1 NESCAC) at 7:30 p.m. . The winner of this game will have the inside route to the first seed before the NESCAC tournament.
