German Christmas services available on WEEU and by Zoom


• Radio WEEU-830 AM will broadcast a recording of a recent German Weihnachtsgottesdienst (Christmas service) in person featuring the Reading Liederkranz choir on December 19 from 11 am to noon. At 3 p.m. on December 19, St. John’s German Lutheran Church, 531 Walnut St., Reading, will offer a German Christmas worship service via Zoom that will feature music videos from various churches in Germany as well as choirs from Reading Liederkranz . • The Calvary Chapel of Lebanon is having an old-fashioned revival every night at 7 p.m. from December 12 to 19 online at www.ccleb.com and on radio stations WLEB-FM 97 and 106.3 in the county of Berks. Reading Calvary Parish Priest Marc Weber will be one of the guest speakers.

• Zion Lutheran Church, 300 W. High St., Womelsdorf, will hold worship services in person and via Zoom or Facebook on Sunday at 10:30 am. A Christmas cookie sale will take place today from 9 a.m. to noon or until sold out. The cost is $ 10 per book.

• Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Barto, will worship on the third Sunday of Advent at 9am. & Conversation too. The setting up of the crèche will take place from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. After worship, the congregation is invited to the living room for the display of the nativity scene with hot chocolate and cookies in the visitor center. Masks are recommended.

• Zion United Church of Christ and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ will celebrate together in person Sunday at 10:15 am at 301 W. Penn Ave., Robesonia, and through YouTube, Facebook and phone. The third pink Advent candle will be lit and the focus will be on the “Sacred of the Greens,” which will include the distribution of wildflower seeds to all participants.

• The Reformation Lutheran Church, 3670 Perkiomen Ave., Exeter Township, will be hosting a Blue Christmas Service of Comfort and Hope for those mourning the loss of a loved one today at 1:30 pm. The music will begin at 1 p.m. and will be provided by harpist Linda Umstead. The third Sunday of Advent will be celebrated with in-person worship at 8:30 am and 10:30 am. Masks are compulsory. The Reform Choir, under the direction of Dr Heidi Rochlin, Music Director, will lead the worship service during the subsequent service. The 10:30 am service will be broadcast live on the Reformation Facebook page and can be viewed later on www.Reformationlutheran.org. under the worship videos. Christmas Vespers will be held on the church lawn at 7 p.m. with Christmas carols, readings, candles, lights and cookies and hot chocolate.

• St. Michael’s Church, 529 St. Michaels Road, Tilden Township, voted to leave the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and join the North American Lutheran Church. NALC has over 500 congregations – from Puerto Rico to Canada and across the United States

• Trinity United Church of Christ, 2449 Cumberland Ave., Mount Penn, will celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent in person at 10:15 am. The religious school for adults will take place at 9:00 a.m. Masks are recommended. The service will also be recorded and posted on the church’s Facebook page after the service.

• The Schwarzwald Lutheran Church, 250 Church Lane Road, Township of Exeter, will be hosting an in-person service at 10:30 am with Holy Communion. Unvaccinated people should wear masks. The registered service will be available Monday on Facebook.

• Schwarzwald United Church of Christ, 75 Church Lane Road, Township of Exeter, will be holding an in-person and Zoom service on Sunday at 10:30 am It will also be available on YouTube. Sandra Paton will be the guest pianist. For more information, visit www.schwarzwalducci-pa.org.

• The Lutheran Church of Alsace, 2201 Kutztown Road, Canton of Muhlenberg, will offer a Christmas music program by the female singing group Four Fun Sunday at 9 am. Social distancing is required. Masks are optional for people who have been vaccinated.

• St. John’s Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, will host the director’s Big Band Christmas concert next Saturday at 7 pm. Free entry. There will be in-person worship on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The service will also be broadcast live on YouTube. Sunday school for children is at 9:30 a.m. Register at stjohnsboyertown.org. There will be a free take-out drive-through meal every Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The church will also have an Advent service on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

• The United Church of Christ St. Paul, 5 W. Arch St., Fleetwood, will have two church services in the sanctuary on Sunday at 9 am and 10:30 am The 9 am service will also be available on Facebook and YouTube. ; links can be found at www.stpaulsfleetwood.org. The prelude to both services will be “Coventry Carol” with the choir of bells and Holly Walter on the flute. The special music at 9 will be “O Holy Night” with Jenna Landis on flute at 10:30 am “Be Born in Us” with the choir of the choir. The worship leaders will be Alexis Ames at 9 a.m. and Tina Koch at 10:30 a.m. There will be a service on December 19 at 9:30 a.m., when the Christmas cantata will be performed.

• Frieden United Church of Christ, 337 Main Street, Oley, will be holding in-person and Zoom worship on Sunday at 10:15 am Find more information and links at www.friedensuccoley.org. After the service, the mission team sponsors an Advent fellowship meeting with treats and snacks. The Mission Team will be collecting items for the Oley Valley Pantry at a drive-through event today between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Emphasis is placed on 14 or 15 ounce cans of vegetables, but any food will be accepted.

• Christ Episcopal Church, 435 Court Street, Reading, will be holding three in-person church services on Sunday mornings. At 8 am, there will be a said service (no music); at 9, a service for families with young children; and at 10:15 am, a service with music. Anyone attending these services is requested to wear a mask. Parking is available at the Abraham Lincoln Parking Lot and M&T Bank Parking Lot, both located off Washington Street. Parking next to the church on Court Street is available for people with disabilities or needing assistance. • Reading Moravian Church, 1116 Perry St., Reading, will celebrate the third Sunday of Advent with the lighting of the third Advent wreath candle at 10 am. Masks are mandatory and social distancing is recommended.

• Bern Reformed UCC, 3196 Bernville Road, Bern Township, offers live worship on Sundays at 9:30 am, or participate from your vehicle via FM 87.9 transmission.

• Maidencreek Church, 261 Main Street, Maidencreek Township, will be holding a hybrid church service celebrating the third Sunday of Advent at 9:00 am. The music includes piano solos by Kimberly Ayrton, Molly Johnson and Tallulah Johnson; SaraAnn Harbonic’s trombone solo; and solo trumpet by Jamie Ayrton; as well as a congregational hymn.
