Bobbett competes on East Coast All-Star Team honoring 1992 Dream Team
Jasen Bobbett started in Game 1 of the series.
Middlebury male basketball player Jaden Bobbet was selected to represent the United States in Barcelona, Spain this summer. Bobbett was one of 14 student-athletes from all three divisions of the East Coast All-Star Team who played in several commemorative games honoring the 1992 Dream Team. The Men’s Olympic Basketball Team of the United States won gold at the 1992 Games in Barcelona, along with NBA greats like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.
“It was an eye-opening and unforgettable experience,” Bobbett said. “I really enjoyed being able to travel and play basketball in a different country while representing the United States. It was an honor to be one of two Division III players selected and it was great to be a part of that. of the only team on the east coast of the United States to travel. to Spain and go 3-0. I was able to connect with people from across the country and around the world. I learned a lot playing with my teammates as well as with my coaches. I can’t wait to get back to work with my guys and bring back what I learned at Middlebury!”
Bobbett and the rest of the team spent two days at a training camp hosted by Columbia University, where Jake Brown ’17 is an assistant coach, before flying overseas for three competitions. The team went 3-0 against teams in Liga A, Spain’s top league. Bobbett was one of two student-athletes representing Division III.
